Don’t Want To

I don’t want you to know what it’s like

To watch your Grandma forget

I don’t want you to know what it’s like

To have to hold on to the good memories to stop the tears

I don’t want you to know what it’s like

To become your Grandma’s caregiver

I don’t want you to know what it’s like

To wonder when the pain will end

I don’t want you to know what it’s like

To be nervous you are looking at a future version of yourself

I don’t want you to know what it’s like

To wait for the call that will irrevocably change your heart

I don’t want you to know what it’s like

To look into vacant eyes

But I do want you to know one thing

She is worth the tears, the energy, the pain, the sorrow, the unknown future and broken heart

She is worth it all
